Photo number 5:

A devastated life

Poverty is a problem nowadays, that’s a fact. A poor person is not able to get education due to lack of money and therefore remains unemployed. An unemployed person is not able to buy enough and nutritious food for his family and their health decline. A weak person lacks the energy required for the job. A jobless person remains poor only. So that we can say that poverty is the main cause of other problems and this photo reflects perfectly the consequences of poverty.

In this photograph we can see a boy who’s carrying a school bag looking at an entire city almost in debris, this photo could have been taken in a country involved in a war or in an extremely poor zone. Following his clothes and taking on account that he is carrying a school bag he may have been going to school, but the conditions of the streets, the devastation and lack of resources make this impossible for him. In the background of the photograph, looking at the rest of the village, we can see that all the houses are made up of weak materials, which could break down at anytime. The soil around the living places is full of trash and waste, and that’s because they don’t have a sewer and trash bins to put it there, so that, they have to throw all the waste into the streets. These are many problems that people in underdeveloped countries have to deal with everyday. And that makes me feel impotent and helpless as these problems can only be solved by the governments and powerful people, but the problem is that they are doing nothing at all for this countries, and the situation there is everyday worse. In the photograph, we can also see another boy, who seems happy for the situation that he is living, he is so young that he barely knows what’s happening.

This photograph could perfectly describe the concept poverty without the needs of any word, a gaze at the photograph is the only thing you could need to have some words related to the topic of poverty inside your mind: devastation, buildings in debris, children without education, illiteracy and lots of other words that cause harmful consequences to the people in these underdeveloped countries.
